HORSES CARE

Number and type of horses
JJ Riding School maintains a carefully selected herd of horses and ponies, each chosen for their suitability in teaching riders of varying skill levels. Our collection includes a variety of breeds known for their steady temperament, versatility, and adaptability—from gentle ponies for children to well-schooled horses for advanced training. The number of horses is balanced to meet our student needs while ensuring each horse receives adequate rest and attention.

Temperament and training
Each horse at our school is assessed not only for physical ability but also for temperament. We prioritize horses that are calm, friendly, and responsive, making them ideal for instruction and student interaction. All horses undergo professional training and consistent handling to reinforce good behavior, responsiveness to cues, and comfort with riders of all ages and experience levels.

Health & welfare standards
We uphold the highest standards of horse health and welfare. Daily monitoring, regular health assessments, clean living conditions, and humane handling practices are part of our routine. We follow internationally recognized equine welfare guidelines, ensuring our horses are healthy, stress-free, and able to perform their roles comfortably and safely.

Nutrition, vet care, and exercise routines
Our horses benefit from personalized feeding plans developed in consultation with veterinarians and equine nutritionists. Regular vet checkups, vaccinations, deworming schedules, and dental care ensure long-term health. Daily turnout and structured exercise routines keep our horses physically fit, mentally stimulated, and well-prepared for lessons.

Retirement and rotation of horses
We believe in responsible stewardship, which includes planning for each horse’s long-term wellbeing. Horses are rotated regularly between lessons to prevent overwork, and those reaching the end of their riding careers are retired with care and dignity. Some remain on-site as companions or participate in light, non-strenuous activities, while others are rehomed to loving environments.
